Spontaneous Structures

This proposal aims primarily to use a language that involves movement, geometric composition and spontaneous organization in space as a means of expression.

Sylvia offers us a living and current plastic (visual) approach, which allows its eternal modification and accommodates multiple points of view.

Art then becomes a malleable infinity where there are no approaches with unique and uniform criteria –if not where the spontaneity of creation plays an important role.

Some works are installations created over space, building spontaneous structures in three dimensions.  Others, like mobiles floating in space, manage to make inert art become movement, due to the effect of natural elements such as the wind or the action and play of some daring spectator.

My interest is to emphasize the importance of synergy as a way of life.

I like to stress the interaction of elements that when combined produce a total effect that is greater than the sum of the individual elements.

Synergy generates team efforts, symbiosis, alliance, unity and harmony. When synergy is in use, it contributes to dynamics, momentum, and impact.

I used undistinguished materials and give them properties that exceed their intrinsic qualities.

I used each element as a surviving mark or evidence of the former existence.

I have explored many subjects, but none have been quite as simplistic and complex as life. Life is an infinite timeline, where life and death represent neither beginning nor end. Using my works as a metaphor allows me to explore the various facets of life.

I have been working with the red sphere for more than two decades, as an energetic symbol, as a metaphor of life, and as a sign of what is alive and in continuous transformation.

The red sphere is the metaphor of our journey through life; it is life itself, the nucleus and origin of all.
